Sony Pictures has hired British director Paul King to helm a feature film about Labubu toys. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the creator of “Paddington” and “Wonka” will not only direct the film but also produce the project.
Story details are being kept under wraps, but it’s known that the film will be a feature adaptation of the character created by Hong Kong designer Kasing Lung. Labubu is a plush toy in the form of an elf girl with a distinctive toothy smile, which first appeared on the market in 2019 but only gained real popularity in 2025, becoming one of the main trends in the world of collectible toys.
