Macaulay Culkin Explains Why He Left Acting

In a recent interview, “Home Alone” star Macaulay Culkin explained why he decided to leave acting at 14. As it turned out, after the release of the comedy “Richie Rich,” the actor realized that he wanted to live the life of an ordinary teenager.

“I desperately lacked communication with people my age. In most films, I acted alone, without an ensemble cast. Tom Hanks at least had a volleyball, I didn’t even have that. I was literally home alone. I wanted to socialize with peers, go on dates or parties. I missed many bar mitzvahs!” the actor explained.

Culkin also added that he never dreamed of acting fame. His career began spontaneously — his father brought Macaulay to auditions along with his older brothers. The boy passed the auditions on the first try. One could say that the work found him, not the other way around.
