George Clooney revealed the approximate start date for filming the new “Ocean’s” franchise film in an interview with Variety. According to the actor, cameras will roll in October 2026.
The main reference for the sequel will be the 1979 comedy “Going in Style” starring George Burns, Lee Strasberg, and Art Carney. “I like this idea: we’re too old to do things the way we used to, but still smart enough to know how to get away with it. They [the characters] have lost their way, and they need to find a way to work around their limitations,” Clooney clarified.
In addition to Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia, and Don Cheadle are also set to return to the project. Rumor has it that David Leitch, known for “Bullet Train,” may take the director’s chair. The exact release date is not yet known.
Steven Soderbergh’s “Ocean’s” trilogy began in 2001. The plot told the story of a group of criminals robbing casinos. Combined, all the films grossed $1.1 billion worldwide.
