Paramount Courts Legendary and Revives Franchises

Fresh leadership at Paramount is rebuilding the studio’s slate. A key move is a global distribution pact under discussion with Legendary, covering titles such as Minecraft: The Movie and Dune. The contracts are still being drafted, but the intent is clear — Paramount wants its worldwide reach back.

At the same time the studio is dusting off its own franchises. Top Gun 3 with Tom Cruise is the top priority, while new chapters of Star Trek, Transformers and World War Z are also in the queue. The target is roughly 15 theatrical releases a year, blending tentpoles with horror mainstays like A Quiet Place and Smile plus R-rated comedies.
