Aaron Sorkin is returning to Facebook with The Social Reckoning, a new film inspired by The Facebook Files investigative series. Instead of retracing Mark Zuckerberg’s rise, the script centers on whistleblower Frances Haugen and Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz.
The story tackles political fallout, the platform’s impact on teens and how the company handled the turbulence surrounding the 2020 election. Sorkin says it’s not a literal sequel to The Social Network, but a harsh update aimed at today’s audience.
