Tom Cruise Finally Gets an Oscar — Honorary One Though

The Governors Awards ceremony took place in Los Angeles. The main event was Tom Cruise’s award.

The 62-year-old actor was nominated for an Oscar many times but never won. Now he has a statuette — an honorary one.

Cruise’s Speech

“Making movies is not a profession, it’s who I am. In the cinema we laugh and feel together — that’s the power of art. I will always defend cinema. Hopefully, without fractures,” said the actor, alluding to his stunts.

Other Laureates

Honorary Oscars were also awarded to:

  • Dolly Parton — for contribution to music and film
  • Debbie Allen — for achievements in dance and directing
  • Wynn Thomas — for work as production designer

Plans

Main Oscar nominees will be announced in January. The 98th ceremony will take place on March 15, 2026.

Cruise recently starred in “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.” Next year his film with Alejandro González Iñárritu will be released.
